Consistent quality, good cause

I've ordered from the Cancer Wellness Support Op Shop a few times now, mainly for vintage apparel and some collectibles. This time I picked up a men's fashion jacket. It was exactly as described, no hidden flaws, which is what I've come to expect. Delivery to Perth was pretty standard, about 5 days, so no surprises there. What keeps me coming back is knowing the purchases support a good cause, and their descriptions are always accurate. The website could use a bit of an update, sometimes it's hard to find specific categories, but the items themselves are always reliable.

Great value on homewares

I was looking for some affordable homewares and found a really nice decorative vase and a set of picture frames. The prices were fantastic, especially compared to new items. I saved a lot of money and the quality was surprisingly good for second-hand. Felt good knowing my purchase helped out too. Just wish there was a free shipping option for smaller orders.

Good finds, delivery was okay

I bought a vintage knitwear sweater and a few used books. The sweater was in great condition, really a nice find for the price. The books were also good quality. Delivery took about 5 days, which was a little longer than I hoped for, but not a huge deal. Overall, it was a positive experience and supports a good cause. Wish shipping was a bit faster though.

Great value on homewares

First time buying from here, and I was looking for a good deal on homewares. I found a nice set of kitchenware for a really low price. It wasn't advertised as a special deal, just good pricing. Saved a good bit compared to new items. Shipping cost was a little high, but the savings on the items made it worth it in the end. I felt like I got good value for my money.

Great value, good cause

I bought a couple of children's toys and some used books last week. I always look for a good deal, and the prices here were already low. I managed to catch a 50% off color-tag sale, which made it even better. Shipping took about a week to get to me, but for the price I paid and knowing it supports a good cause, I didn't mind. The toys were in great shape, just needed a quick clean.

Good book selection

I bought a couple of used books online. They arrived fine, took about a week. Condition was pretty good for second-hand. Wish shipping was a bit faster, but overall okay.

Smooth order, helpful staff

My recent purchase was a set of children's toys and a few board games. The ordering process was simple enough on the website, though it did feel a little dated. I had a question about one of the toys' condition so I called their support line and the person I spoke with was very helpful and checked it for me. Delivery took 6 days to get to my place in regional Victoria, which is pretty standard for here. Everything arrived well-packaged and in the condition described. The toys were clean and the board games had all their pieces. I did notice a small scratch on one of the game boxes not pictured, but it wasn't a big deal. For second-hand items, the quality was quite good.

Detailed review of my order

I placed an order for a women's dress, a couple of handbags, and a vinyl record last week. The ordering process on the website was straightforward and I received an email confirmation right away. Everything was well-packaged when it arrived. The dress fit well and was exactly as described, no hidden flaws. The handbags were also in good shape. The vinyl record played without any skips, which is always a gamble with used records. I did have a question about tracking that I sent to support, and they replied within 24 hours, which was pretty efficient. My only minor critique is that the product photos could show a bit more detail, maybe from different angles, but I was happy with what I got.

Hey, thinking about grabbing some stuff from their online store. Anyone know if they actually deliver to the US? Or is it Australia only?

K Kyle White 1 month ago
Nah, it's just Australia. They're a charity op shop based there. Shipping internationally would be crazy expensive for second-hand goods.

H Hannah Wright 1 month ago
Yeah, I checked once too. Their whole thing is supporting local cancer wellness programs, so it makes sense they'd keep it domestic for now. You're out of luck in the US.

Thinking of doing a big clear out. Does Cancer Wellness Support do furniture pickups, or do I need to drop it off?

L Lisa Torres 1 month ago
They do sometimes pick up furniture, but you gotta call them directly to arrange it. Depends on what it is and where you are, I think.

I've always had to drop off smaller stuff, but my friend got them to pick up a couch once. Just give them a ring.

How does this place compare to like, Vinnies or Salvos? Is the quality generally better or worse, or just different?

P Paul H. 1 month ago
I'd say it's pretty similar to Vinnies in terms of variety and price. Sometimes you find really good stuff, sometimes it's just average.

Honestly, it depends on the day and what's been donated. I've found awesome vintage pieces there and also at Red Cross. It's all a bit of a treasure hunt, really.

Do they ever have online coupon codes? Or is it mostly just in-store deals like the color tag sales?

H Hannah Johnson 3 weeks ago
I've never seen a digital code for them, honestly. All their discounts seem to be the in-store stuff, like the half-price clothing racks or specific colored tags.
2
R Robert A. 3 weeks ago
Almost never. They focus on those in-store promotions, like the 'fill a bag' or the senior/volunteer discounts. Online codes are super rare, if they even exist.

Hey, I'm looking at some of the vintage dresses on their site. Does anyone know if they do any special sales, like for students or something?

L Linda W. 1 month ago
Yeah, they totally do student discounts! You usually just need your ID at the checkout. I think they have senior and volunteer ones too.

B Brittany Wright 1 month ago
They often have color tag sales where certain items are half off, which is usually a pretty good deal already. Don't think they do online codes much though.

Just wondering if anyone's had to return something they bought from the op shop? Was it a pain or pretty straightforward?

B Betty Williams 1 month ago
Nah, it's an op shop, usually all sales are final, I don't think they do returns.
6
T Thomas Torres 1 month ago
Yeah, you can't really return stuff to charity shops. Best to check things over really well before you buy.

How do they compare to like, Vinnies or Salvos? Is the quality generally better or worse, or pretty much the same kind of stuff?

S Stephanie Lewis 1 month ago
Pretty similar, honestly. You find good stuff and duds at all op shops. It really just depends on what donations they've gotten lately. No major difference in 'quality level' overall.
5
N Nancy Sanchez 1 month ago
I find them all pretty comparable. Sometimes one store gets a good run of donations, sometimes another. It's more about luck of the draw than one being inherently 'better' than the others. I usually just go to whichever is closest or has a good sale happening.

Quick question about returns. If I buy something online and it's not quite right, can I send it back? Or are all sales final since it's an op shop?

J Joseph Nguyen 1 month ago
I returned a jacket last month, no problem. As long as you have the receipt and it's within their return window, you should be fine. It wasn't difficult.
3
P Paul H. 1 month ago
They do accept returns, but remember it's a charity shop so maybe try to be sure before you buy if possible. It helps them out with less admin. Check their policy for specifics, but generally they're pretty reasonable for faulty items or if you change your mind.
